Green Day and Twenty One Pilots are ready to rock the 2016 American Music Awards. The U.S. guitar groups will bring their heavy stuff to next month’s ceremony, joining previously announced performers Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars and American Music Award of Merit honoree Sting. Green Day recently ruled the Billboard 200 with Revolution Radio, the veteran outfit’s 12th studio album and third No. 1 in a 30-year career. The Hall of Fame-inducted punk rock outfit have a happy history with the AMS. British singer and social activist StingSting joins the ranks of Annie Lennox, Gloria Estefan, Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson in receiving The American Music Award of Merit at the awards show next month. In addition to releasing five studio albums with his band The Police, Sting went on to release 14 solo albums and receive a slew of awards, including 10 Grammys and most recently, a Tony Award nomination for Best Original Score for his Broadway musical "The Last Ship" last year.
