The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers' (ASCAP) 33rd Annual Pop Music Awards honored some of the best in the industry on Wednesday evening, and crowned Max Martin "Songwriter Of The Year" for a record ninth time. The coup saw Martin, who co-penned nine ASCAP pop hits this year, including Taylor Swift's "Blank Space,"  and The Weekend's "Can't Feel My Face," break the record previously held by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, reports Billboard. The awards, which aim to recognize the songwriters and publishers of ASCAP's most-performed songs of 2015, also honored Warner/Chappell Music as the coveted Publisher of the Year for the third time in five years.

Big winners were Nicky Jam, Juan Gabriel, Enrique Iglesias and Marc Anthony.

An official music clip for J Dilla's Nas-assisted song "The Sickness" has emerged, following the release of the late rapper's last vocal album "The Diary" (via Billboard). Directed by Ruffmercy, the kaleidoscopic muisc video features a collage of images of J Dilla and Nas rapping against bright, colourful backgrounds in step with the music. "The Diary" is now available now through Mass Appeal Records, and also features Snoop Dogg, Bilal, Frank and Dank as well as producers Pete Rock, and Hi-Tek.

The Northern Nights Music Festival has revealed the full roster for its 2016 instalment, with headliners including Gorgon City and GRiZ along with The Knocks, Troyboi, The Coup, Sugarbeats, Govinda and Lafa Taylor also confirmed.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Music created by inmates at one of South Carolina’s most dangerous prisons was making its way to the White House on Wednesday, thanks to a group of musicians affiliated with Carnegie Hall.

His band “The Revolution” announced that it will reunite for some shows.

Canadian singer and rapper Drake will stream his new album Thursday on Beats 1, Apple's streaming radio service. The album, "Views From the 6," is scheduled for an exclusive Friday release on Apple Music. The preview will be part of an episode of Drake's OVO Sound Radio show on Beats 1, which will also include an interview with the singer by Beats 1 DJ Zane Lowe.

As far as places to film a music video go, a Waffle House parking lot seems like a pretty solid choice: The chain is basically everywhere, at least in the southern part of the United States; it's (probably) free; the restaurant has street cred amongst fans of many different musical genres; and if the artist gets hungry between takes they can head inside for some food.
