|| FEELINGS OF GREATNESS || by Bruno Soares

When I realize, I find myself in the middle of the Ocean. They call it Atlantic. In fact, it is the Sea of Atlas, a titan condemned by Zeus to hold the sky forever on his shoulders. I feel great, in fact, I feel tremendous! I am in the middle of this infinite sea that covers a fifth of my Planet! I look at my feet and notice that they are on solid ground. Wait, I’m on land and in the middle of the ocean. Amazing! Emerging from the depths of this blue sea, first in explosive red tones, and then turning into a greyish brown colour, Flores Island was discovered more than 500 years ago by my Portuguese ancestors, so-called because it covers itself in the spring with yellow flowers, whose seeds are brought by migratory birds! I feel even bigger, I feel overwhelmed! Then I look at the horizon and spot a small islet that remains there isolated and I realize. I’m at the most western point in Europe! I’m looking at Ilhéu de Monchique! I feel magnanimous, yes, but all this feeling of greatness comes out of my soul for having the happiness of being here, while the Sun says goodbye to me on another ending day of my journey through this life! Thank you Mother Nature for making me feel so big, being so small!

One For My Baby ! by S U N I L

A painted stork mom flies home with a fresh catch. Hungry she flies to feed the waiting beaks in her nest. But even this innocuous and potentially joyous flight is not without peril. Threat looms large over her, from kites who could gang attack to steal her prize. She knows it and her eyes are peeled wide open in anticipation. But for now, ladies and gentlemen, sit back and enjoy the flight !

The icing on the cake by Ken Welch

I took this picture near the end of a day that was getting stormier and stormier. I’m no cloudologist (a scientist who studies clouds), so I won’t even attempt to explain how these formed. But I found it interesting how the clouds stuck to the mountain ridge, and while they blew about and changed their shape over the following next 15 minutes, they continued to stay in one place. Side note: I’m pretty sure there’s a guy wearing a red parka standing on one of those peaks, but obviously he’d be hidden by the clouds, so I’m adding this photo to the Landscapes category rather than the Parka Guy category. Side note 2: unlike my previous photo there is NO horse hidden away in this shot. Don’t waste your time looking for one. 17
