Miles in the Headlights by Miles Morgan

Glacier this summer was a challenging affair. Wildfires abounded keeping much of the park closed, and as if the fires weren’t challenging enough, the clear skies piled on. This was one of about 2 days of a 11 day stint where we actually had a little drama in the sky. I’m posting this because I miss my friend. This trip pretty much represents the sum of my photography for the last year. Other things to do and all… It’s also my favorite memory from 2015. Spending time with My Ryan (sorry Candace, but you have to share him) up in the mountains always yields some of my very best memories. This year, however, was extra special as I came away with 10 new friends. It was an exciting, fun, wonderful week and thinking back on these good times with people I cherish has been very effective in warding off the stress of day to day life this year. I have been to Glacier many times and have yet to see a bear. This pisses me off. I figured on the hike back from this spot it would be my time. I was excited. I was primed. I was ready. As we sang down the trail to alert the Big Furries (the bears, not the fetish) of our approach, Rob, Ryan, and I were in high spirits… which ended instantly when a huge brown mass crashed out of the bushes feet in front of us. Our headlamps slashed through the night and illuminated the massive creature, it’s doe eyes staring intently. Yes, doe eyes. As in, it was a deer. What I learned about myself on that evening is that my vision of me encountering a bear at close range is very different than what is actually going to happen. In my mind, I was going to be a bear whisperer, and if that didn’t work, some sort of photography bear ninja. What I’ve discovered is that I will essentially be some sort off fat bear snicker’s bar waiting to be eaten as I stand there with poo coming out. Happy 2016

Would love to see you on FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM! Happy New Year my fellow 500pxers!!! Thank you so much for visiting and hope you enjoy. Meeting him and his brother in the iconic GuiLin Li River is without a doubt the highlight of my entire trip to China last year. Yes it is true they no longer fish for a living and they only pose for tourists.. But they are absolutely awesome and their connections with the iconic river and mountain have such historical significance… If you are interested knowing the backgrounds and their stories, I have some pretty detailed write-ups in the previous two images I posted.. You can find them here: 漓江边上 and here: 漓江边上二 .

By Matt Siegel SYDNEY (Reuters) – Australian-born music mogul Robert Stigwood, who managed the Bee Gees at the height of their fame and guided musician Eric Clapton’s successful solo career while producing musicals for the stage, has died aged 81, friends said on Tuesday. The announcement of his death was made on Facebook by Spencer Gibb, a son of Bee Gees’ band member Robin Gibb. “I would like to share the sad news with you all, that my godfather, and the longtime manager of my family, Robert Stigwood, has passed away,” Gibb wrote.

Misty morning in the woods in eastern Germany. It was a misty morning but when i started for my second tour on this day the mist already disappeared at my hotel. A hour later i arrived in this area close to the czech border. This area is really „the end of the world“ the road ends there and it ist he highest area in this region. When i arrived there the high mist was still there. It was really a surprise so i did hurry up to get into the woods. My best shots of this tour i took within the first hour while the mist was still in the woods. Later the sun broke through and the magic was gone. I really like this misty conditions which bring silence into the woods and my compositions.

Rialto Goodness, Olympic National Park, WA by Patrick Marson Ong

I’ve been wanting to visit this place for a loooong time and finally got the chance to do it!!! Oh yeaah! Spent the new year photographing the roaring pacific ocean, those sentinel like sea stacks and that amazing sunset! Rialto beach, more like a coastal forest, crazy driftwoods all over the place. Located within Olympic National Park, Washington State. Glad to have timed this on a low tide, around .7ft that time. Cant imagine how this place would look like at its peak of 10ft. Lol! First time to shoot all by myself, must admit it was scary!! Water was crazy cold, thanks to awesome waders, i survived! Onwards and upwards 2016! Happy New Year guys! ****Best Viewed on black****
