The Herkules by Alona Azaria

The Herkules is an an American metal Wind Motor located in the Kalverpolder in Zaandam which in 1993 was replaced by an electric pumping station. The mill was developed in the United States and was used for irrigation purposes. A modified mold with a smaller wheel was produced in Europe by Herkules Metallicus of Dresden. In the Netherlands it was used as a polder mill in 1922. About 200 of these mills were installed between 1902 and 1925, especially where a steam pumping station would be too large and expensive. This was especially the case in North Holland and Friesland
